Muharni
The 'muharni' teaches us how to pronounce the vowels with each of the consonants of the Punjabi language. Once you have learned these sounds, you will have the confidence and skills to form the Punjabi words with confidence. Learners should read each of the letters down the column and pronounce each sound accurately.
You will note that column 1 combines the first three letters of the language. Each of the follows systematically is shown with each of the vowels. This is the foundation of the Punjabi language.
Please print this image and use this to practice the sounds.
GCSE Punjabi coming soon
In the coming months, we are working a new GCSE Punjabi course that will help students get the resources that they need to succeed in their Punjabi GCSE exams. Please complete this quick survey if you would like further information on this or would like to get involved to support this project. .
The above videos were specially developed for those people who want to learn Punjabi to read Gurbani. This is not a modern day spoken language course.
I worked with the teacher and combined this with a structure that I had been teaching for several years to adults in the UK. This was specialy developed as we had identified that many people wanted to have a high quality resource and a structured system that would aid the learning of the Punjabi through television and also on demand.
